Alonzo Chappel's E. K. Kane, American arctic explorer

Chappel was a popular and prolific Anerican artist of the 19th century whose works were published in oversized books which included intaglio engraved renditions of his paintings along with history and biography. These large books, published in the 1860's-70's, centering on American history from the Revolutionary War thru the Civil War are typically a bit tattered on the outer binding, but the pages and intaglio prints are in excellent condition and each volume contains dozens of oversized engravings. I sell them by the book, and depending on which book, the engravings end up costing $1.75 to $3.50 each.
